Hammerite and Clean-Up

I've been working on my Caravan the last three weeks, rebuilding the Automaitc Overdrive transmission. Today it was install day! Well the front motormount frame was starting to show some rust bubbling trough the factory coating. So, I decided this was a good time to test Hammerite and Gas. I brushed down the assembly and coated it with hammerite. Then I put a little gas in a can and swirled the brush around in the gas. Guess what? Yep, the brush came clean. So I'll have to admit, while Hammerite is freshly applied, or curing, it can be damaged by gas. I've yet to do the test to a piece of metal that's fully cured. But I did coat a couple of pieces for a test and will let you all know it a month what I find.

Re: Hammerite and Clean-Up

Yea, let us know. I`ve been thinking about painting the diamond tread corners and gas filler neck on mine but I didn`t really know whether the paint would hold up after getting gas on it. Thanks.
