Arg! I lost a fusable link :(

I tosted one the fusable links that comes from that little box near the battery. of course it had to happen in the middle of the rush hour traffic on the way home from a grave yard shift anyway I found the couse, my elec. choke wire fell off. I limped home by twisting the left overs of the tosted wire together but I need to replace. How do I do this? Can I use a regular fuse holder and fuse instead of the link with the black nub on it?

Re: Arg! I lost a fusable link :(

Most parts shops sell new fusible links. It just splices onto each end of the old wire just like to fuse holder you are thinking of using. I can't remember why, but it's not recommended to just use a normal fuse. Maybe because it's too hard to select the correct guage? I don't realy know. For a TEMPERARY fix, you could just splice a new piece of thinner (numericly higher) guage wire in there as a trail fix. Just make sure the cause for the link going in the first place is fixed before you bother doing anything.
