What goes in a club news letter?

Hey all,

This June, our club will be around for its first year! Yahoo...

I would like to come up with a club news letter but I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to put in the letter.

I would like to put different tech stories, articles, etc in there but where do I get this info? from the web? I really dont want to "take" the stuff from other sites...

Any suggestions that might help? Thanks.

have your club members submit News, Tech stories, Classifieds, Land Use Issues, Trail Ride stories.

Re: What goes in a club news letter?

Check out http://home.att.net/~ci4wi
There are a bunch of newsletters online there in Acrobat Adobe format.

I have been trying to expand them a bit and add tech sections and such. Most of the content is calendars, event writeups, classifieds, and a roster (which isn't included in the web versions)

Tech info is hard to find the middle ground with. Too easy and its boring, too involved usually gets ignored. I am thinking about things like checklists for offroading trips (list of common spare parts to carry for example)

Good luck! It can be a tough job.

Re: What goes in a club news letter?

I do our Jeep clubs newsletter, It consists of coverage of our latest events, upcoming event schedule, administrative updates & a "Jeep Spotlight" which I spotlight a different type of jeep everytime, our newsletter is bi-monthly. I get the specs from the buyers guide & usually include a picture of one that is a members (we need a member with an FC ) It is on one front & back page & we post it on our website also in a members only section.

You might also want to include the minutes from the previous months meeting incase some people didn't attend.

Re: What goes in a club news letter?

I think most people would be honored to have their stuff in your newsletter, if you wanted to use it. Simply ask them via email if it would be ok to share with the other Jeepers in your club via a newsletter, provided you give them credit in the newsletter -- "This month's tech tip comes to us from Ernie Whoozat, from Yakkama Indiana.", etc.

People don't post stuff on a website to be private. They usually want to share it.

Good luck!

Re: What goes in a club news letter?

YOU MIGHT want to list officers and their phone # also the members phone # [WITH there permission of course] that way new people will get intouch with each other for help or fun. Date of upand coming events and shows get intouch with
local junck dealers and othjer parts places offer them add space in exchange for member discounts. Ps only print one letter on computer and copy the rest on copy machine . It is much cheeper. Kenwing
