Soft top...Stupid question

Bought a Best top soft top (Jeep came with a hard top) and was wondering how in the hell you fold the thing down. Do I need to pull all the windows out then put it down? That seems to be the only way to get it to fold. If that is the case, where do I store the windows? I could figure it out, but I want to do it the right way. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

Just like all soft tops, you have to zip out the back windows (put them in the garage), roll up the rear window then fold it down with the tailgate open.

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

Thanks Jon, I figured the side windows would need to get removed. I also removed the back window. I think I will put it back on and try rolling it up.

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

If you can leave it out by all means do so. Rolling it up will just cause the window to get scratched faster.

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

I never do actually fold mine up, I just take the whole thing off with the windows attached and stand it up some place in the back yard against the house (kind of like it was still on the jeep). It takes two people but is just as fast as taking all the windows out! My top is so tight that taking the windows out is a pita!

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

Don't just fold it up with the windows in it. You will crease the windows.

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

i fold mine up with the window in. But i do make sure that the windows dont get folded in half. I just lay them in a half moon shape. Yes they do get scrathed easy though.

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

When I bought my used YJ it had brand new soft top & no directions but I figured out how to fold it on my own.
Is there supposed to be something to hold the bottom of the back window rigid over the tailgate or is it supposed to flop around and let water in?

Re: Soft top...Stupid question

Cheap and easy way to store windows is to roll them up in a large towel so they don't get scratched. Quadratec sells a case for $35 or $40 that will hold the windows and the top that works pretty good. Their new catalog has a case for the door uppers that I'll probably try too.
