ba10 trany question

I have an 89 comanche with a ba10. With just normal road use the trans getS burning hot. I can hold my hand to it for a moment, the have to pull away. Is this normal? Has anyone ever put a cooler on one. Is it possible to put a cooler on and circulate some fluid through a small radiator? Thanks Dennis

Re: ba10 trany question

Just filled it with fluid, so should be fine on fluid.

Re: ba10 trany question

they get pretty warm especially on a hot day- you know everything gets hot the engine is exploding(combustion) and is attached to the tranny- heat transfer. as long as you have proper fluid level there should be no problem. check your transcase level also as it is attached to tranny through the main tailshaft. another heat transfer. after a road-run feel the engine oil pan-hot!
rear diff- pretty warm
front diff-cool
tranny-hot don't touch the exhaust system-real hot
even brakes-hot
