Old military jeep trailer

Is $500 a good price for an old military jeep trailer that's in good shape?

Re: Old military jeep trailer

If you are talking about an m416 style Jeep trailer, that seems to be the going rate for one that is usable. There is a military/truck salvage place out near Barstow, CA that wanted $500 for theirs, but some were missing axles, tongues, dented, etc.

You might see if 2001jeepparts.com has anymore. I think he was selling them for $375 plus $100 for shipping. I was reading some good experience posts on POR.

Re: Old military jeep trailer

Just keep looking around. You might luck out and get one for free like I did. Mines in pretty good shape. It had minimal surface rust and many small dents. I have the main leaf on one of my spring packs that is broken but it is still holding up because of the military wrap. The person that had it before me cut the lunette eye off and welded a regular hitch to it. I'm in the process of making a hard cover for it right now. I'm also looking for a lunette eye and a set of springs. I'm told that any springs off of the front of a flattie will work so if you hear of someone that has em let me know.

You can check herehttp://www.drms.dla.mil/asset/pubalpa.html to see if you can find anything. Just scroll down to section D and check the base that is nearest you to do a property search. I don't think the military has anymore M416 trailers to get rid of but you might get lucky. They have plenty of M109's but those may be too heavy to pull behind a jeep.

Re: Old military jeep trailer

If you do a little digging you may even find an M151 Jeep. I found them in Okinawa, Japan. The part you'd have trouble with is getting it through customs and passed the DOT.
