Toyota axles under Jeep

Anybody running Toyota axles under a Jeep? If so, would you recomend them? What is the witdth of the axles? How hard is it to switch them to crossover steering? Still trying to decide on axle choice for my Cj7.

Re: Toyota axles under Jeep

The Toyota 8" axle is very strong for it's application. Get a 'chunk' from a V-6 or a Turbo model and they are a little stronger, for thier application......
In a CJ with a 258 I see no reason it would not work. Crossover steering for the TOY axle will cost some money. 350.00 or so for crossover and add another 100.00 or so if you want high-steer. This is with a few aftermarket parts and some fabbing on your part. If you want a complete bolt on solution look at closer to 650.00. Also the birfield is another possible money hog. They are quite a bit more pricey than a u-joint. There is a company out there working on a birfield eliminator kit that switches the front axle to a 297X setup.
These are just a couple of things to keep in mind before making the swap.
