Tranny ID Auto

What is the best way to tell the difference between a TF727(from J-Truck) and a TF999(86CJ)? I purchased what i was told was a TF727, but it looks just like my TF999.

Thanks
JT

Re: Tranny ID Auto

If I recall correctly, the pans are slightly different shapes. 727 pan should also be a bit larger.

Re: Tranny ID Auto

the 727 is physically a larger ttranny also, but it might be hard to tell the difference unless your looking at them side by side.

if its the same size as your 999/904 than I dont think it can be a 727.

Re: Tranny ID Auto

I would respectfully disagree with LEVE. The 727 pan is similar to the 904/999 pan except that the pan (and trans housing) has a bulge at the front pass side of the pan where the dipstick tube comes through the trans housing. It is not square.
The 904/999 is a square with a corner cut off.

I post one picture of a German Halftrack and now you want to "respectfully" disagree? Wow, had I known that I'd have posted it 6 years ago!

OK, I admit it... I'm off my medication!

Mike, GOOD CALL!
