Anyone ever broken/bent shackle plates

Just wondering if anyone has bent or broken their stock CJ shackle mounting plates. If so, I'd like to know the conditions if known and what you were a runnin.

Re: Anyone ever broken/bent shackle plates

Twisted 2 pretty bad before I went to the reinforced Tomken ones. This is many years ago, at the time I was running 31 inch tires, wheeling was mostly pretty mild ghost town hunting in AZ. Those stockers are pretty weak!

Re: Anyone ever broken/bent shackle plates

Ripped my factory rear drivers shackle hanger running 32's and a L/S a couple of years ago. Did nothing but easy trails then. Like Brad said, "they are pretty weak from the factory."

Take them off, hammer them back in shape and weld some gusstes on them.I've done that to every jeep I've had, and never had another problem with them..

Re: Anyone ever broken/bent shackle plates

bent the piss out of my front ones.. was out mudding.. and had to hit a hole kinda hard.. needless to say.. something on the other side.. was bigger than my jeep.. i hit with the front axle.. bent both front leaf springs right before the solid mount into an U.. just about pulled the front hangers off of the frame.. and broke the front driveshaft.. cool thing was.. on the way home.. it still drove straight.. ... thats a jeep for ya..
was running 4" and 33".. & I6..
