You will have a better chance of finding an XJ D44 (these are kind of difficult to find too) and welding the brackets on to it. Either cut the brackets off your D35 or get the ones from RE.

I need to avoid all of the BS involved in that due to lack of a garage.

Aaron:

Try a few of the parts places that are computerized and that also serve as a parts locating service. It won't be cheap, but if you put the word out you'll find one. I used them to find the adapter between the tranny/transfer when I found mine was cracked. A guy in CT had one, cost $95 w/shipping. Not bad considering he threw in the shifter, boot, collar, and seals. New they're $220. If I hear of any up here I'll let you know pronto.

I submitted a parts request with a couple of places so hopefully something will turn up. Thanks for the tip.

That's ok. I wouldn't pay that much for a stock d44. I can get one custom made with an ARB and 4.56 gears including freight for $2200. I was actually looking in the $600-900 range. I did find out from Harry Brosofsky that a brand new housing from the dealer is around $750. I may put one together like that if nothing else pans out. Thanks though.
