re arching springs??

ive recently been considering getting my springs rearched in my CJ for a 3" or 4" lift, is this a good thing to do, do they sag faster than a lift would? if so, how quickly? thanks

Re: re arching springs??

I can't really give you the answer(s) to your questions...at least how a re-arched spring will work in a lift, or if they'll last longer before sagging. What I can do is tell you a re-arched spring doesn't hold is tenison for any great length of time. I've done it a couple of times in the past when I wanted to buy myself some time before I replaced them with new ones. I always used them on a stock CJ, never a lifted one. So, from my point of view,,I suggest you just get new springs if your planning on keeping your jeep for a perod of time. Also, if you do elect to re-arch your existing springs do it your self,,if your going to pay someone, you may as well save the money and put it toward the new springs.

Re: re arching springs??

It is not a very good way to get lift, Just like a lift kit, they will be stiff at first then sag away. I prefer to cut-off the mounts and add a good stout spacer between the frame and the mounts. It's more work but it's better and permanant. Clean and paint, put some graphite between the leaves, and some new bushings, and you're all set.
