how to grease cv joint?

i know this seems lame but my new cv shaft has 3 grease points at the transcase end. 2 are capped flush with little hex head bolts/plugs. the third is a regular zirk fitting on the ujoint. appears as though the 2 w/o zirks are that way because they would snap off when the cv does it's pivoting. i assume these plugs have to be taken out and a zirk threaded in to lube? i will call tom wood monday but would like to know before then. it appears to have been well greased as sent because of the grease it had on it and what has slung on my muffler!
thanks, steve

Re: how to grease cv joint?

i'd guess you'd put the zirt fitting on to grease it and then take it off?

Re: how to grease cv joint?

guys the flush zert would do well for you- or run an oem joint no zert- 80,000 mile life- and just grease the center-

Re: how to grease cv joint?

v8-that would seem an option although a permanent flush mount "zert" (is i guess how it is spelled?) would be better i would think as drivelineman suggests. i will get a hold of tom monday and ask him why it doesn't have flush fittings now.
thanks guys for your response
