Whats your opinion of Turbo City?

Just curious, what kind of experiences has anyone had with Turbo City? I am seriously considering going to a turbo on at least one of my vehicles, and they are one of the very few places with info and parts.

Re: Whats your opinion of Turbo City?

As a owner of an 87 Toyota 4-runner with a 22RTE (Turbo), I can honestly say that I will NEVER own another turbo motor. I have torn this motor down and replaced the turbo (CT-20), and while it runs good it is ALOT of work to tune and maintain. Well above the normal.

As to adopting a turbo to a non-turbo motor.....well there are a slew of things to get a grasp on. Turbo Lag, tweaking the waste gate, inter-cooler installation, high priced parts, unavailable parts.....the list goes on.

There are better ways to get more HP! For the price of adopting a turbo to a motor you can get very close to swapping in a V8 with out all the issues of the turbo!

Re: Whats your opinion of Turbo City?

No! the jeep doesn't need any help, it is great in its current configuration.

I was actually looking to pump up performance on two different engines, one is a toyota 3.0 v-6 that needs some help, the other is the most gutless engine ever built, a 1989 ford 460. I think my fuel injected six in the jeep will pull the motorhome fater than the 460 will pull the jeep. I have replaced all the ignition system, had the injectors cleaned, and still can't get it to get out of its own way. I wish I had a diesel in it, but no room. It is not a fun over the road vehicle, with the jeep in tow, the reason I bought it in the first place.
