Bracing the firewall for hanging pedals??

I installed hanging pedals in my 63 CJ5 and i get the flex in the firewall when i push on the pedals. I already have a nice piece of metal there, because of my saginaw conversion, but it still flexes. I have not mounted the from parts of the pedal assembly to the dash board yet. When i attach it to the dashboard, should i expect it to brace it a little more, or will i have to something different? Is this flexing going to damage anything? It feels real weird to have the firewall give, but i don't really see any damage, other than the feeling i am going to push through the firewall. What have you guys done when doing this conversion.
Thanks

Attaching to the dash will help quite a bit. Without some sort of bracing the flex will eventually fatigue the metal to the point where it cracks.

...and also brace it to the fender too...goto the local junkyard and get some engine bay braces from older cars...they work great.

Re: Bracing the firewall for hanging pedals??

Thanks guys,
I will definately do the dashboard for a brace, i didn't look in the junk yard yet, and my buddy says put a piece of angle iron under where the pedals mount to the firewall and bolt it up.

Thank
