V6 and SM420 and T18

I have a 66 CJ5 w/ original 4 cylinder, T90, and T18 with overdrive. I want to put a GM 3.4L V6 and SM420 in. Will the SM420 bolt up to the T18 and be able to keep the overdrive? Will I need to move the transfer case to fit this combination?

Re: V6 and SM420 and T18

If I'm not mistaken, the 3.4L V-6 is a 60 degree V, so not sure if there's an adaptor for the SM-420. You'd be better served with a 90 degree 3.8L V-6 from a '79-'87 RWD GM car. This is the decendent of the 225 V-6 that was optional for your '66 CJ. Should be able to make the 3.8L/SM-420/D-18 all work together with O.D., I'd think. Call Advance Adapters at 800-350-2223 and Novak Enterprises at 877-602-1500 for help with adapters to make it work.

Re: V6 and SM420 and T18

a 4.3 will bolt up to a SM420 (or any 90 degree chevy v-6)
but you will need and adaptor to your spicer-18, this is one of the oldest swaps every, you might also try "Rupe" they advertise in the back of 4x4 mag's and might be better priced than "Novak" or "Advance Adaptor" who also sell the adaptor you seek.
