4.2L, MSD Blaster Ign.

Yeah, I know, ANOTHER 90 4.2L with idle problems! When I installed an MSD Blaster High Vibration coil about 9 months ago, it REALLY helped. I just installed an MSD Blaster ingition box. I would have bought the 6-Off Road, but the $120 less expensive Blaster was in my budget. My question is, "Even though the Blaster is fairly weak, should I adjust my spark plug gap or tweak my idle mixture?" My idle is still rough, and I know it will be till I get back to the states and can more easily get what I need. My tach also does not work since the magnetic pickup is disconnected from the stock wiring harness. Any suggestions???

Re: 4.2L, MSD Blaster Ign.

I just bought a 6A, and I had similar questions. I'll be talking to one of their technicians this morning. I'll follow-up with you after we converse. BTW, did you upgrade to a TR TFI?

Re: 4.2L, MSD Blaster Ign.

I would gap the plugs at .40 or .45 I am using the TR upgrade without the MSD. (The MSD hasn't been installed yet, still waiting for the tach adapter.) Anyway, I gap my plugs at .40... When I get the MSD installed again, I will regap to at .45.... You will probably need to try different gaps to see what works best for you. Good luck

Re: 4.2L, MSD Blaster Ign.

Thanks, I'll try the gapping this weekend. I am just starting to look into the TFI mod, but I may wait until I return to the U.S. before I try it, we'll see.
