Re: Southern States BBS Jamboree

What are the minimum vehicle requirements? Can I come with my stock CJ-5? I don't want to be the one holding the rest of you guys up.

Re: Southern States BBS Jamboree

You won't be the only stock rig there. No vehicle requirements whatsoever. What we had talked about was doing a run everyone could do for the main ride. Then maybe seperating into two groups like locked and open or something like that. I might need a ride after I break down anyway.

Great! I'll try to come. I'm only 16 so I'll have to check with my parents. maybe we can set up a chat to talk more about it? Let me know.

16 and got 2 jeeps already! i wish my parents would have been that cool. i didn't even get a car until 17 and it was an old $500 nissan. about a week after i got it the transmission mounts busted and i was left with 1,3,5 gear. i had to park on hills for 2 years (no R either) until i got a good enough job to buy a better car. just one piece of advice, if your parents are like mine, and most others, respect what you got cause that might be all you get!

Re: Southern States BBS Jamboree

gigolo-

The CJ-5 is mine and the commando is my Dad's. We bought the commando when I was 13, with plans of fixing it up in time for it to be mine when I turned 16.
but things didn't quite go as planed. So about a year ago my dad took the commando and bought the CJ-5 for me . We still plan to fix the commando up but now we can take our time.

P.S. technically they're both my Dad's, since his name is on both titles.

Re: Southern States BBS Jamboree

Hey there Joey!!
It is great to see that you have gotten so much interest in this trip. If I get my green jeep up and running by then I will for sure make the run.
One word of advice if I can, I have never been to Heavner but I have been to Poteau a few times. The last time we went to Poteau there were 6 of us in our group, my Jeep was the least built and smallest rig of the bunch, out of the 6 rigs 3 rolled, we had 4 broken D-44 axles, 3 broken D-60 35 spline axles, and 3 driveshafts snapped.
It was a awsome weekend to say the least and one to remember, since 3 of the guys with us even compete in the BFG Championships and still didn't make it to the top of two of the trails (snowball & 8 Sec).
So this time I am going to go back with the biggest and strongest rig I can build.
There are several places that stock rigs can make a run and have fun but if you are wanting to get a taste of some HARD core crawling that is the place to go.
