Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges

I recently had the entire wiring harness replaced in my 88 Wrangler w/ a 258. Now the temp gauge won't work and the oil pressure gauge pegs itself as soon as I turn the key(without the engine running and while it runs). Any ideas?

Re: Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges

pull your instrument panel off and check your connections. if that is not it, then trace the wires out to make sure your connections are correct.
ihad a similar problem with mine, but i had not replaced the harness. my gagues didn't work when i bought it. turned out to be the connections on the back of the panel.

Re: Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges

I'm going to just take it back to my regular mechanic, he broke it. I don't have the time right now for that piddly stuff and I don't even know why I posted this anyway, but thanks for your help.
BTW, how is that TFI running on your Jeep?
Gonna put mine on next weekend.

Re: Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges

It sounds like your nechaninc simply put the wrong wire to the wrong connector. If you put the positive wire up to the wrong post your will have the gauge do exactly what you described.

Re: Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges

"piddly stuff", interesting. Makes me wonder how much time I waste on "piddley stuff", sounds like my little brother, "Hey big brother [that's me] I have this simple little ["piddley"] problem, I just don't have the time to mess with it, can you fix it for me real quick, should only take you a few minutes because that's how long it would take me if I had the time" SEVERAL DAYS LATER!!! The previously labeled "piddley" problem was a major pain in the a$$!!
