I can\'t steer to the left!

I just got my jeep back from the alignment shop ('82 CJ7). I put in a 4" lift and my steering wheel was half a turn to the right. So I had them install my dropped pitman arm and line everything up. It tracks great, but now the wheels only go about halfway to the left, and go too far to the right! Did they clock the pitman arm off my 90 degrees, or do I need to adjust something? What going on?

It sounds like the boys at the alignment shop don't know how to count. I think they might have missed a revolution when they put your pitman arm on. Check you total turns, and see where your wheels are halfway. Is it possible that your box is indexed so the pitman can only go in one place, and the drop arm you got is indexed 90 degrees off? Probably not, I would take it back and let them look at it again.

Re: I can\'t steer to the left!

I would take it back and make them fix it. I worked in my father-in-law`s shop for a while and that was one thing you always done, line up the steering wheel. It sounds like they tried to line up the steering wheel by adjusting the drag link. You can unless the wheel is really way off center. If that`s the case you center the drag link to the steering gear so you have the same amount of turns each way. Then if the wheel`s off center pull the wheel and center it on the column. Any reasonably good shop can do it.
