Re: yj body on cj frame
yes very possible.. i believe only 4 mounts dont line up... not the front ones.. but the next two sets.. Elusive has a yj fiberglass tub on a cj frame.. well had.. its now on a tj frame.. he had some steel piece that bolted across those body mounts.. with holes in it... to bolt the body too..
also the gas tank filler is on the opposite side.. but other than that.. they are estenially the same.. i have a cj tailgate.. cj gas tank.. with my yj frame and body.. http://www.jeepgod.net 84 CJ-7 401/T-18/D20/D44/D60w/4.10&Detriots/YJ frame & tub/35x16x15 Boggers survival is instinct, but living takes guts |
Re: yj body on cj frame
Yup, it's possible...
I currently have a '91 YJ tub on my '84 CJ frame. I used the CJ tailgate, so if you didn't know what to look for, you'd never know it was a YJ tub. There's a writeup on my webpage (link below) and there are some links to others YJ/CJ tubswap pages. Good luck, Dan 84 CJ-7,Weber,HEI. 95 ZJ,V8. http://netnow.micron.net/~wdohrn/ |
Re: yj body on cj frame
which front clip do you have, I think that's my biggest concern, I like the yj front over the cj

Re: yj body on cj frame
Most people perfer the cj clip to the YJ, that's the usual preferance.

Re: yj body on cj frame
Stalled in the middle of a similar project.Only one set of mounts does not line up,the ones right in front of the rear wheels.Have to relocate fuel filler tube,I guess most guys just spin the tank 180 degrees.I cut the filler hole in the cj location and covered the yj hole with diamond plate.Body mount bolts are different size also,so make sure you get the body bushing/lift for the body you are using.
