UUGGHH, What\'s a CJ-7 Windshield Cost?

Well, impatience has gotten me again. I was attempting to remove the tub from my CJ-7 (by myself) and managed to break the windshield (don't ask). Anyone know what a replacement might cost? TIA.

if you take your frame off and take it in to them, most places will replace the glass for 60 to 75 bucks. have had to do it 8 or 10 times myself.

The guys came to work and replaced it for $125 or $115. I couldn't get anything off the price for pulling the old windshield or anything else. The prices varied Greatly from one place to another. The cheapest windshield these guys had was $95 installed. The one I got was like $20 more and it was slightly (very slightly) tinted.

My Dads 1960 jeep utility wagon was in a fire and he had to replace all the glass. He made carboard paterns and took them to the local glass shop. where they cut him new glass. The great thing about jeeps all flat glass.

Just a thought that might save some money.

Re: UUGGHH, What\'s a CJ-7 Windshield Cost?

Last year my wife bought me a mailorder steel windshield frame ( 125.00 ). I was planning on using the same glass but replace all the rubber. ( that got expensive) Well, the glass had a small nick in it, and of course it split all the way across. So I ordered a new piece of glass. I'm not sure if it was the rubber or the frame, but it did not fit. I used this sticky black putty stuff for a seal (came wiht the rubber. It was now getting everywhere and I was fed up. The guy who came to deliver the glass told me there was no charge to install it so I let him have a whack. He ended up putting the rubber stuff from some heated applicatore he hadd. He said it was guarantedd not to leak, so I figured what the heck, leave it. If it flies out while driving, well, I'd consider that a leak. After doing a little research, I found others had the same problem. They ended up trimming the frame a bit.

Hope that helps
