$300 for scout rears good price?

Guys,

I am looking to do a spring over on my 84 cj. It currently has stock rears. I want to go to the Dana 44 in the rear. I have someone who wants to sell two rears. Rear & Front scout 44's as a set only. He wants $300 for both. I don't want to use the front cause I don't want to move my springs.

Is $300 a good price for the rear? I will probably try to resell the front 44. What should I ask for it?

Thanks for any input you can give.

He wants $300 for the pair? Buy it,it's really not that hard to move your spring hangers outside of the frame.Around here, those scout axles are pretty hard to come by.I have paid $300 for just the front one.

Moving the springs is not an option for me. Here in Jersey SOA is illegal. I want to be able to put the rear back to SUA and throw the stock dana 20 back under the jeep for inspection.

So are you just going to leave the 30 in the front? The scout rear will be easy to fix, just move the pads.I have yet to cut down a 44front to match the cj width. The scout rear is going to stick out further than the 20 wont it? Course we dont have all those laws yet here in texas,at least none i've heard of.

yeah, the stock front rear will stay. I will be able to either do SOA or SUA for inspection. Yes, the rear will be wider, I will add longer studs to the front and add a spacer up front.

The Jersey thing is killing a lot of 4x4s here.

Re: $300 for scout rears good price?

I have a complete '77 Scout with Dana 44's that I will sell for $325. I'm in Indiana and I'll also consider trading for Jeep stuff or anything else (MAYBE)!!!

Thanks,
Kelly S.
