If I can step in & make a suggestion, I think the idea is great. And the idea of creating "zones" sounds nice also. But, I think what you all need is for volunteers to step forward, offer to "coordinate" for a specific place to wheel. Give tips as to the terrain you'll be traveling (stock on 30's no problem, or locked & 38's ain't enough!), pick a meeting place, & give some tips on local lodging for those coming from out of the area.
You might end up with more than one place within a specific "zone". If so, that's fine if say one place is suitable for stock Jeeps, & the other spot is more hardcore. If they're both close & both similar in terrain, perhaps one person can step aside for now & host the next time.
Unfortunately, my Jeep is in pieces, and my mud racer isn't suitable for trails. So, I can't really host a trail ride. I CAN
offer to provide some fun though. Top Mud Challenge IV is set for 06/23/2001 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Montgomery City, Missouri. Gonna have 11 classes of mud racing, a monster ride truck, a 4x4-only Show N Shine, manufacturers' midway, and car crushing exhibitions by Bigfoot, Bearfoot, and Wild Hair. I'm in charge of the mud racing, so I can get any details any of you would need for that - a stock 4.0 YJ even holds one of my class records . And if all you want to do is come down to meet with some fellow BBS members & watch, that's fine also. You can always try to coordinate a trail ride Labor Day Weekend .
