Re: engine light

1. Get a service manual on the vehicle.
a. Haynes.
b. Chilton.
c. Jeep FSM, the most expensive... but the best.

I say this not to be flip... but it will help you to undersand the vehicle better. Us motorheads love 'em. Infact we read technicial manuals for fun.

2. The TPS is the Throttle Positioning Sensor. It monitors the position of the throttle plate. The position is fed back to the onboard computer to help it make judgments as to engine load and feed the right amount of fuel into the intake manifold. This part has been known to be very fagile when the engine compartment is sprayed with water. It sits on the throttle body. It is easily changed by the owner, despite what Chrysler may say.

Get a manual, identify the part and it's placement, and replace it yourself.
