What am I missing ? (Revolvers)

Okay, I have seen the pictures of revolvers extended, and seen them installed on a jeep, but haven't seen what they do under compression. Normally a shackle will be pulled towards the spring perch under extension and pushed away under compression. If the Revolver is sitting in its "socket" how does it move back under compression? Or does the whole assembly rotate down and back? What am I missing here?

It works like a boomerang shackle - the whole assembly rotates backward. It cannot collapse by the way it is made.

On YJ's, they help add to the compression of the suspension with longer lift springs in the rear because the spring doesn't whack the crossmember. It rotates around it.
