Air punp

I was just thinking that back in the old days there was a little pump that you screwed into your spark plug
hole and ran a hose to your tire to inflate, not sure if it worked but you don't see
them advertized any more. If it did work it would be cheaper than a compresser. As long as theres
no big ( BANG)

Yep....those were real popular. It was back in the days when hoods opened from the side, and the engines had NOTHING on top of them except a teensy little carb and air cleaner. We used one of theose on our '36 Dodge pickup, our '35 Ford pickup, our '51 Dodge pickup, and our '57 dodge flathead six. Using them on a modern OHV engine where the plugs are hard to get to would be the pits. People thought those were dangerous because they pumped fuel-laden air, but that wasn't true. The fitting that you screwed into the head was also the inlet check valve and they only pumped clean, cool, fresh air.

Re: Air punp

There was a thread on those just a few days ago on the Willys Tech list. I think they were called Chuffers? Sounds like a cool idea.
