whats the difference between this and a quadjet???is it worth useing if i have it here??

Which one you chose is based on desire. Do you want more low RPM power or higher RPM power?

From what I've seen, I'd go with the Q-jet, but then, I've never messed with a squarebore rochester.

According to the two Rochester books I have, it's a model 4G, Rochester's first 4 bbl carb. Used from '52-'67. It's a square-bore design with dual side-hung floats. If you're looking for the best carb for off-road, you need to update to a Quadrajet, which is also known as model 4M. It is a spread-bore design with a single center-hung float. I'm running the Edelbrock Q-Jet #1904 on both my Jeeps with great results. The only thing better than a Q-Jet is fuel injection.

Chris,

Put that thing on a Chevy posting board!!! It's an antique. Those guys who restore them will eat it up. Look for a number stamped on it to identify it. Post it and spend the chevy cash on Jeep parts!!

It's exactly what Tim said. They weren't the greatest carb , even in their day. Thats part of the reason holley got to be a good upgrade. Sell it to someone with an old chevy and buy a Q-jet.
