Where to mount transmission cooler?

I am looking for locations or ideas of where some of you have mounted your transmission coolers. I have AC so putting it in front of the radiator would be impossible without some fabrication to move the grill forward. I would also think this would produce more heat. Anyone have any good places to mount one. I have been lying under my jeep just looking and cannot really come up with a good spot. I would like to keep it out of harms way and this makes it hard.

Re: Where to mount transmission cooler?

Any location with adequate airflow will work. Maybe you can find enough space on a fender that gets some air-flow from the fan? You could mount it to a frame rail near the transmission, with a small electric fan on it to provide some flow. Even mount it to the underside of the body, wherever you want really....

Re: Where to mount transmission cooler?

I would NOT mount it low, like on the frame or anything. There is a local business here that makes good money on the trannies in the oil field trucks, the coolers get clogged up with mud and the trannies get overheated. Mount it up out of harms way, and out of muds way.

Re: Where to mount transmission cooler?

I mounted mine right in front of the radiator, down low, behind the grill, so it sits on the same part of the frame as the grill.. To attach it to radiator, I used long plastic locking straps,,,passed the straps right though the trans cooler and thru the radiator, inbetween the fins,,,,I did have to notch the grill a little to get the hoses to run neatly, but it was down low, on the back side of the grill ,,,you cant even tell its been done. Oh I've run a transmission cooler like this for years and I mean years...never ever had a problem
