HELP!! hub assembly

i am taking apart the D44 front end that i bought and i can't seem to get a washer (i guess it is a type of washer) off so that i can remove the hubb assembly and rotor. i have enclosed a picture. I have the first axle nut off and the washer is behind it on top of the 2nd axle nut. Has a key path in it. I have tried everything to get it off. The other side just slid off when i grabbed it with needle nose pliers.

Any help is appreciated.

Jim

Re: HELP!! hub assembly

some of those lock washers screwed on.. it might also be bent over the inner nut.. if so.. will take some fangling with a couple of screwdrivers to get it out..

Re: HELP!! hub assembly

it definately doesn't screw on. The other side just fell off and has no threads. The keyed path would prevent it from screwing on. I played with it for about an hour already you cant get much of a grip on it. I am heading back out to give it another shot

Re: HELP!! hub assembly

How about bending some hooks from metal coat hangers and trying to fish it out with those?

Re: HELP!! hub assembly

I use some picks to get the washer out, work at it, it may have deformed a little or have a burr on it. It should come right off.

I think I asked this once, but have forgotten, where are you located.

We're getting enough people in Maine, we should start considering a Maine run sometime.

Re: HELP!! hub assembly

take a couple of forks out of the kitchen drawer.. don't let the wife see ya.. take pliers and bend the tines as much as you can, and still get on the backside of the washer.. should be able to get it off.. better go for junky forks just in case you get caught by the warden. if you bend the handle some you can hang on to them better.
