Cagle fuel pressure regulator ?

This past weekend I picked up a Cagle fuel presuure regulator at the flea market and have a question about it. The inlet and outlet are easy enough but the port on the bottom, where does that go to? Do you use a vacuum source, and if so is it ported or manifold vacuum that you use? I just finished installing the Rochester 2g carb, it has only one ported vacuum source from which I run the Dist vacuum advance and the charcoal cannister purge signal. Can I splice this line again to run the Cagle? How many times can you splice it or will it degrade the workings of the Dist advance? Thanks for any help.
