I would think it probably is the master cylinder. I've never had good luck rebuilding them...kind like brake master
cylinders. I still would test the master cylinder first. It could be something else. Even new parts can go bad.

No, I bled the system with the slave installed in the bellhousing and the engine/tranny bolted together.

If it worked for a while after you reassembled it it should have been bled OK at that point. Something else happened.

I just checked the brake fluid I was using - it's D.O.T. 3. Is there really that much difference? It would seem you would have to use the cluth ALOT to make it boil.

If the fluid type was the problem wouldn't the clutch then be OK when you first start the vehicle before anything gets warm?

Another thought would be to check the crankshaft end play on the new engine.
