2 lines off of air-filter housing?

What are the two lines that come off the air-filter housing for? I assume the one going to the valve cover is a breather? Could it be replaced with a breather filter? And what about the other line that goes under the brake master cylinder and into something else? What's it for? What I want to do is run a cone filter(just happpened to have one laying around and thought I'd try and stick it in my Jeep) and don't know what to do with these two lines. I found I can use the existing elbow that connects the box to the throttle body for my cone filter. It just doesn't have anywhere to hook the two lines to. Thanks a bunch!

Re: 2 lines off of air-filter housing?

Hey-On that hose that comes from your valve cleaner it is a breather hose...just find a barbed fitting to put inside the hose and drill on the larger side of the cone, in a area which will not be seen readily, to match the threaded side of the barbed fitting. Epoxy the threads and srew in the fitting into the cone. The other line is for the fuel evaporative system(its for the emissions-it just recycles the gas vapors from your fuel tank), just below the other fitting you just installed put in a 'T' fitting and put that hose in there. Try to locate the filter away from water and mud spray.
