Painting Fender Flares

I have an 87 Wrangler with the original body colored plastic fender flares. They are no longer body colored though after 13 years because the plastic has faded. Does anyone know what kind of paint will stick to these things? I am just going to paint them black this time instead of the red of the rest of the body. Is there some sort of special plastic paint that would work or is there a product specifically for this purpose?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Painting Fender Flares

I used mar-hyde Bumber Black on a set of painted flares about 1 1/2 years ago and they still look good. They look like the black unpainted flares. The only problem I've had is that it eventually peeled off of the short front flare extension pieces which hadn't been previously painted. I probably should have primed them first.

Re: Painting Fender Flares

Paint should stick to the fender flares if they are preped properly with a flexing agent. Try an automotive paint shop, they should be able to point you in the right direction.
