Need a little wisdom, won\'t start

I just picked up a '92 Wrangler with a 4cyl. Did the usual tuneup and it has been running ok. All of a sudden tonight, it dies and will not restart. The starter is turning but no fire. I have fuel, just no spark. I tried new coil, the plugs, wires and cap and rotor are all new. I don't know what to look at next.

Ouch, that'll leave a mark!

I had a similar problem. Just one day no spark. Had fuel, changed coil, cap, rotor, and still nothing. Ended up being the computer above the glove box. Also did you check the ignition module. I am not sure, but it may be under the washer fluid reservoir.

Re: Need a little wisdom, won\'t start

You can pull the ignition module out of the distributor and get it checked at a parts store. Make them check it a couple of times, I have had them read good when they weren't. I don't know anything about your motor or ignition system, but it could also be the distributor. They can short out. I had one do it not very long ago. If you have a buddy with the same motor, steal his and try it in yours. I don't know of anyway to check them other than dropping one in that works. If I hadn't spent all of my money on my JEEP, I would bet that it is the ignition module. (If you have one?) Good luck.

Re: Need a little wisdom, won\'t start

Had the same problem a few months back. Tested everything I could think of and couldn't figure out why no spark. Finally towed it to a mechanic friends house and he found the bad ignition control unit under the washer fluid bottle on the driver side fender. A couple hundred bucks later (part stores won't let you try it out first) for a new one and I was back on the road.
