Do I have a Fuel Prob?

I have a 90 JEEP Wrangler I6 4.2 Double barel Carb, rebuilt with only like 4000 miles on it. When I am starting from a stop and strat to give it some gas the whole jeep shakes, or does little jumps as I start to move then once the rpms get up a little higher it stops. Not to mention when I am at about 65 the whole jeep shakes a good amount. I don't know what to do or what is causeing it. I know she is begging for a good tune up, and if you could suggest some good tune up parts let me know.

Re: Do I have a Fuel Prob?

Get your tires balanced, and disconnect the EGR valve. The tires could be contributing to the shaking at speed, and the off-idle hesitation could be the result of a stuck EGR valve dumping exhaust gases in a idle. As far as tune up parts, I would put on a cap, rotor, and new wires and plugs. I would also rebuild the carb, or buy a rebuilt, if you aren't comfortable tearing into the thing. What year did the wranglers go to fuel injection? Maybe a fuel system swap is in order. Just suggestions.

Re: Do I have a Fuel Prob?

Try taking off in 3rd or 4th a few times to clean off the clutch, high speed prob. might be balance
