Gasket between T-5 and Dana 300

Is there supposed to be a gasket between a T-5 and Dana 300 transfer case? Exactly where do put the sealant? What kind of sealant to use?

Thanks.

NO gasket. A little silicon seal is a good idea. BUT, make sure you replace the oil seal that is in the back of the T5 that seals the 300 input shaft. If you don't I GUARANTEE a leak!

I just used your standard liquid gasket seal. I think it was the blue gasket stuff. Anything should do as long as it holds up to gear oil. Just apply it to the outter rim where the bolt holes are and compress them together.
Good luck.

You can get a gasket, but a little silicone works just as well in this application.

I've never seen a gasket for that application. Mine came from the factory without one.

No, ther is no gasket is is not supposed to have one. If you notice on the T-5 there is a notch at about 7 o'clock and that is to let any fluid that is leaking from your T-5 or D300 out. I would not recomend using silicone or anything, if you do and you spring a leak where is the fluid going to go?

The 2 cases don't match all the way around. I would put silicon on the mating surfaces. There is an area near the bottom where they don't mate. MIne came from the factory with black silicon on the mating surfaces.
