rear d-44 scout vs tj vs cj

i am putting a locker in this weekend, and if it is possible, i would like to convert my tj d-44 to 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. i have an 86 cj d-44 here, and a scout d-44 . the 86 d-44 has 1 axleshaft that is 25 1/2" and the other is 28 3/4". the total length of the tj d-44 is about 2 3/4" longer than the cj d-44, and 1.5" shorter than a scout d-44, which has equal length axleshafts, but i'm not sure how long they are. they must be about 29" each.. who knows what length the tj d-44 axleshafts are?? how about the scout??? .. I have new brakes for the CJ D-44, and i know the backing plate for the scout doesnt fit the cj d-44, but are the cj and tj backing plates the same bolt pattern?...has anyone heard of anyone doing this with junkyard parts??? anyone see any other "issues"???..no, i dont have ABS...
hears just a thought....i believe the tj will be a bit offset like the cj d-44 is...probably the same 3 1/4" as the cj. maybe not... if your still reading.. thanks...

What are you planning on for brackets? cutting the old ones off? Using Rubicon Express brackets? I think the Rubicon Express brackets are susposed to be much stonger than the stock brackets.

I have the factory IHC manuals and they don't even list the length of the Scout axles. Sorry.

Have you considered sending your shafts to moser engineering or just carefully marking and redrilling your flanges yourself? Is there enough material to move the studs out?

i dont see this working.. but you could probably take the longest 2 shafts.. and have moser cut them down to the length you need for the tj.. just means you will have to pull that shafts twice..
you might get one shaft about the same length.. but i dont see finding two of them..
