Starting issues...

I have an interesting starting problem for you all. About 99% of the time my Jeep turns over just fine. Every once in a while I will turn the key and nothing. The volt meter shows I am drawing amps but no go. Sometimes if I let it sit for about 15 minutes it will work fine. Also if I compression start it and drive home and shut it off it will turn over then with no problems.

My only ideas are as follows:
1) The ol' gal has got PMS becuase this happened about the sam time last month :-)
2) In the last two months it has only happened when I go to Safeway.

Okay so maybe those aren't plausible answers.

Oh yeah by the way I do have a good solenoid heat shield on the starter.

Hey-You sarter selonoid is gone on the starter. It will get worse, you can rebuild it but go down to AUTOZONE, PEP BOYS, NAPA,....it could also just be a lose or corroded connection too.

Re: Starting issues...

I would vote on a loose or frayed connection going to the starter. Only does it when it is bounced or in a certain position, will progressively get worse with time if that is the case. I have been there done that.....
Just food for thought.....

Re: Starting issues...

I had the same problem a while back and bought a battery terminal cleaner. Clean the terminals and you should be allright.
