Check out this Jeepney..

This is a philipino custom, they build these as taxi's. They also hold contests with these and see who can build the one with the most ornamants, and also the loudest one. LOL, I have never heard of these before today..

Re: Check out this Jeepney..

Just a few thoughts inspired by YJ's post:

1. Ah... the wonderfull world of Jeeps....

2. Jeeps are built, not bought...

3. Taste is optional.

4. Where the heck can I get an alternator like that guy must have?

That must be one of those new 1,000A alternators.

Nah, from my days in the P.I. I'd say that guy is lucky if three of those light work. Those Jeepneys only run that old 4-banger (Rings? I don't need no stinking rings!)

They are a sight.

Re: Check out this Jeepney..

My parents are Filipino and I've been over there a couple of times, the last time in 1986. On of the coolest things I remember was a flat-fender all stainless steel Jeep. My parents were trying to get one of my uncles to ship a body out here to replace the rotten one on my CJ-5, but figured fiberglass was a bit more economical. I think there's a picture of one in a recent JP magazine.
