Dodge 4x4 Axles

Why doesn’t anyone use axles out of a newer 4X4 Dodge Ram truck? I was sitting behind one at a traffic light today and noticed they are spring over already. Front and rear disk brakes. What axles are under these trucks? Anyone know how wide they might be? Does the front axle have leaf or coil springs.

Re: Dodge 4x4 Axles

Depends on what weight class you are talking about but 1ton will have a Dana60 front and Dana70 rear. I think in 94 they switched to axle disconnect crap up front.

My front Dana60 is from a 92 Dodge truck and is almost identical to a Chevy front Dana60 except that it seems to be about an inch wider.... 70" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface.

I need to cut down the long side in order to put it in my CJ7.... I'll end up with an axle that is about 63" wide.
