Axle Swap 86 cj7

My story starts like this, I have an 86 CJ7 with AMC 360 Auto999(soon727) Dana 300, Front D30, Rear D44, and 33x12.5 BFG ATs. I would like to upgrade Ring & Pinion from stock (i think 2.93) to 4.10s. After asking around i have found that it would not be worth upgrading my D30 Front. What would be the easiest/most inexpensive front axle upgrade for me?

Thanks ahead of time
JT

Re: Axle Swap 86 cj7

People trash the D30 but it will survive moderate wheeling... a front axle swap will require a good amount of work with welding and modifications to the axle... if you cant do the work or dont have friends to help you it will probably cost about a grand with the cost of an axle to get it all set up... since many people like you are dropping their 30's it would probably be fairly inexpensive to find some 4.10 gears for one... if you want to do the swap a Waggoneer D44 is probably the easiest and most cost effecient way to go.
