New Jeep under my possesion.

Over the weekend I got bored and decided to go out and buy a 1948 CJ2A. It almost works, will make a great project vehicle. I am already starting to get my 'bond-on' with it.
I will post pictures soon.... If anyone cares...
Anyone know a good place to get parts for these???
thanks.

Walcks, out of PA is good for parts, new & used.
Also, Beachwood canvas has good seat stuff.
Congradulations - flatties are a lot of fun - may not get you there very quickly, but a lot of fun.

Welcome to the club!
I've found that planning to fix up the older Jeep take a WHOLE different knowledge base.
Fortunately, there are some VERY knowlegable guys here on this BBS who have 'been there, done that'.
Just start asking questions ... I'll be listening too ...

Re: New Jeep under my possesion.

Man, I wish I could buy a jeep every time I got bored... Eventually I'd have so many projects I'd never get bored ; )
As for parts suppliers and tech information, try www.willystech.com they have a great email based tech discussion. Also, try http://www.g503.com/boards/ each has tech information and a parts swap board. email me and I can get you addresses for more specific suppliers. [email protected]
I'd like to see your pictures.. One of these days I'll get mine on the web too....

happy jeepn

Re: New Jeep under my possesion.

Hey guys - this is blatant self promotion, but I've got a SUPER SWEET 2A frame - it's actually a complete rolling chassis. I need to move it and am only looking for a few hundred dollars. It also comes with a COMPLETE spare Dana 25 front axle, exhaust system, pedals, steering linkages, etc. I'm at the intersection of MD, DE, and VA. This frame needs sandblast, paint, and some very minor TLC to be super Cherry - one afternoon and you'd have what amounts to a brand-new frame. Any interested? [email protected]

Re: New Jeep under my possesion.

YJ, this guy has just about everything you could imagine for Willys Jeeps.
He doesn't have a web site, but if you are interested in getting your 2A back to stock then I am sure he can help you.

I am going to give the info off of his business card verbatum.

Midway Supply Co.
709 Valley View Lane or
P.O. Box 153185
Irving, TX 75015

Leo Porter
(972) 399-1532

Parts for all model Jeeps, military and civilian
all wheel drive trucks.

A lot of his stuff is for military Jeeps, but it will fit civilian Jeeps too.
When I was getting some of the big things For my '46 CJ-2A he was a great help.
I don't know if he ships or not, but I bet he will.

Also, look on the web for a place called 820 Jeep Service.
The guys name is Bob Bryan, and he has everything for the drive train and running gear.
Hope this helps.
I will see if I can find that for you so you can give him a call too.
