Anybody have a wiring diagram for an \'83 4 cyl?

As i have been trying to resolve my TR upgrade problem on my '83 258, an old bit of info came to mind. I remembered that my Jeep was originally a 4cylinder (meaning it still has the wirinig harness to a 4 cyl, modified incorectly for a 6cyl), and the guy who had it before me swapped in the present 6 cyl. Now, i have been studying all the diagrams for the TR upgrade, and have noticed some differences in the way my jeep is wired. I am wondering if someone could post a wiring diagram for an early eighties 4 cyl (151 ci) motor. or if someone knows enough, could go over my diagram i have posted with this, to tell me where the guy who swapped in the motor went wrong.
FLMudCJ has noted that he thinks i have an external voltage regulator, and that is what the "unknown thing" my alternator wires go to. also, my coil gets its (+) power from the solenoid, not the ignition switch, is this ok? the power wires for the ignition control module both come from the solenoid as well. and there is still his 10 awg mystery wire that comes from the loom and goes to nothing.

Help!

The Haynes, Chiltons, and Factory Service manuals all have wiring diagrams in them.

Jaffer, that'd be for the AMC150 and not the GM151, I don't know if they're the same.

I have the one for the GM151, I'll post it later unless someone else does first.

Re: Anybody have a wiring diagram for an \'83 4 cyl?

wow, thanks alot JAF, huge help.
FLMudCJ, i have the older Chiltons that has no wiring diagrams whatsoever, and an older haynes which only has wiring diagrams for 6 and 8 cylinders. i should post pics of them...they are so torn, tattered, greasy, and bound with duct tape
JEEPN, if you could post the diagram for the 151, that would be great. To be honest with you, i cant recall which engine it had, be it the 150 or 151. i'll have to run the VIN, that should tell me. i am leaning toward the 151 though.

The pic can be seen at http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewP...994&p=41060435 It's from the '82 model and it's for a GM151 engine. Ironically, it's the only one listed, no non-california diagram listed. Please let me know if I can be of further help. When it comes up, double click on it to make it a lot larger.

Thanks JEEPN, I have found similarities between my wiring and the diagram you posted.

Glad I could help. Now I gotta look for an '83-'86 manual, none of the ones I have list the AMC150 engine in them. Oh well...
