Mizu\'s TR Upgrade Site...Wow!

I just looked at the site that Mizu has for the TR upgrade! Nice work! At the rate we are going, the day is not far off when nobody will have to ask: "Er....what's a TR Upgrade?" WHEN I THINK about how LITTLE most of us knew about ignition systems just a little over a year ago, it's just amazing. That truly was one of MY personal weak points as far as wrenching is concerned. On our race team we always had a "distributor guy" so I never got real good at it. Thanks to TR's patience most of us have a pretty good grasp now of what happpens inside the distributor......and why.

Try this: http://www.trailhed.com/duraspark upgrade.html For some reason there is no "a" in trailhead on this link.

I agree with Dave, Mizu. You did a great job on that onboard welder write up too . . . which made me wonder:

Why can't you take an alternator like that and make an even more portable welder or a portable battery charger (regulated) by mounting it to a lawnmower engine? Couldn't you use a pully system to turn out the required RPMs? Might just be a stupid idea - but it was a thought I got when I was looking at it.

Because life has more meaning when you take it in 4lo.

Jay....there WAS a site that showed how to make a backyard portable welder out of a rotary lawnmower! It used an alternator and not a heck of a lot more. I have NO IDEA where the site is now.

Re: Mizu\'s TR Upgrade Site...Wow!

I remember before the TR upgrade that the HEI was the t*ts. That was what everyone was talking about. I was hesitant to do it because you had to yank the distributor out and I wasn’t looking for that much of a project. This seems to get more benefits and almost anyone can do it. Thanks again TR.
