Re: painting

How about the new ('99 & up) Ford Truck color - "Bright Amber" it is a Red-Orange - my husbands truck is that color, it is really a cool color.

Re: painting

Ford has a sweet color that I've seen on the new Mustangs. It's a red-orange color. I love it! You're lucky having a black Jeep. You can just paint the outside and not worry about the inside and the engine bay. If I painted the outside of my Jeep the color I want(green) and popped the hood, man, what an ugly sight! Of course I could always pull the engine, pull the seats, rollbar, dash and everything else and then it'd be easy to get it all grean YA! RIGHT!

Re: painting

Jeepgod, don't take this personally but you went through a lot of trouble building your jeep to settle for a rattle can paint job. My buddies and I were surfing your website (yes at work) and we were fine until the point where you introduce the Krylon pumpkin orange paint scheme/thingie.
Just ribbin you Jeepgod, too each his own!

Mel85CJ, a coworker of mine also has the bright amber paint on his 2000 for truck. It is one of the best colors I have ever seen. I thought of painting the old jeep the same color but I am sure the paint will be very expensive if you can find it.

Re: painting

I word:

KMnO4

"nuff said.

Well, maybe not, since there might be 3 people on this BBS that know what that means. It's Potassium Permanganate (an oxidizer, along the lines of hydrogen peroxide), and it's the nicest deep purple you could imagine.

Re: painting

Hey JEEPN, you gotta color for that stuff that i could find on a color formula chart?? the paint is supposed to go on next week but i haven't bought it yet. a good purple would go over well here at LSU. then i guess i would have to paint the frame YELLOW?

83 CJ-7 TF-999, Original stock EVERYTHING when purchased. Now added leafs, shackles and shocks with new 33's. Still waiting for paint!!!

Re: painting

When I get there, I want to paint my jeep a red to red-orange color also. One possibility I really like was a metallic fire orange (I think that was the name) that I saw on the chrysler copperhead concept car. Probably not a color readily available but you might be able to find something close to it. It looked damn cool on the car anyway I will see if I can find a picture to post.
