A Challenge To TeamRush!

Listen, I posted your comparison of the HEI vs Ford TFI onto the binder bulletin bbs, most were grateful and interested, but one guy got rather steamed and disagreed vehemently. I don't care and I'm positive you don't care, but he raised a point that I thought we all should discuss. He said that the ford system was prone to moisture problems. I had experienced major moisture problems on my ride to wisconsin, but had passed this off to the fact that I had been drafting behind 18 wheelers in the rain for a lot of the trip. freighted j10+258not=70mph. Some wd40 on the cap and wires cured the stumble that it had. My engine compartment is covered in salt, showing that there was a huge amount of spray in there. the vacuum advance arm from the diapraghm is open, creating a huge water opening. Is there a weakness to moisture problem with the tfi system? I just wanted to bounce this off you, see what you thought. Thanks for all your good help, Brendan

I know there is a lot on the TR upgrade, but this has also been discussed in the past. You might try a search on "TR moisture" or something similar.

I seriously doubt if something like this would "challenge" TR. One thing you might note is that the big Ford caps do have a relief fitting, and the lower end of the Motorcraft case can be set up for air or vacuum to purge the cap and prevent crossfiring due to ionization. You can even pressurize the cavity for better water elimination...........BRENDAN......see your private e-mail!!!

Re: A Challenge To TeamRush!

I have had two Ford pick ups with the TFI and ran them through some deep storm water here in FL and have had no problems, so I think it should work well on my Jeep.
