welding machine

i'm considering a welding machine purchase for the inevitable frame off restoration. i need input from someone with some experience as to how big i need to go to accommodate frame welding on CJ-7/8. i would like tro go with a wire feed system. 110v or is 220v a must?
little help please. thanx

Re: welding machine

A 110v MIG is plenty. I have MillerMatic and it'll weld 3/16' in one pass. You'll sacrifice duty cycle with the smaller welder but if you're not doing production work you'll be fine.

Re: welding machine

hey thanx for reminding us to do searches. that's where i generally start but so many new members are popping up every day i like to get a perspective newer than three to six months old.
besides somebody with the input i really need might have been on one of those extended vacations called work.
thanks to all the board vets lucky enough to have been around awhile and still have the patience to deal with us newcomers to the board
