Edelbrock 304 Camshaft

Any of you guys (girls)using the V8 camshaft Edelbrock sells ? I notice it includes the lifters and is far cheaper than most others . And the grind is very similar to a couple of the other mfger`s . Any input ? Thanks

Jeff

Re: Edelbrock 304 Camshaft

I have a 304 in my garage. When it was in my jeep there was a edelbrock cam and lifters installed.

Re: Edelbrock 304 Camshaft

Hey my '78 cj7 has the 304 with the EDELBROCK package. The cam is very nice, advance the cam the 4 degrees of the timing chain. This will give you AWESOME low end power. I had installed the cam 'straight-up' before and tried it 'advanced', and advanced is the best way, plus those 304's shouldnt really rev past 5000 RPM anyways!GOODLUCK!(OIIIIO)

Re: Edelbrock 304 Camshaft

Hey the performance was right there at all times when the cam was advanced. Instant power from 900 RPM to 4800-5000 RPM. Smokin tire in first and chirpin in second with 33's! Great on the trails, you can let it idle up alot of stuff with your foot just ready to catch the throttle. Touchy if you are rock crawling and you stop on a rock, 'cause when you hit the throttle you just roast the tires. I should air the tires down more though. My choice of cams. Soak all the lifters in a clean Folgers coffee can or something like that, and start to soak them when you start to install the cam. In a bucket pour some hot water in and put the bottle of oil in there to get it all runny, then pour it in the can with the lifters. That way it will get in all the crevaces in the lifters.Goodluck.(OIIIIO)
