Wet okole covers???

Looking for advice on the okole seat covers. Are the custom covers worth the extra money ($225), or are the universal okole a better buy($99). Personal experiences with the products appreciated.

I think mine lasted 2 or 3 years. They say to keep them out of direct sunlight. How do you do that with a topless jeep?

Re: Wet okole covers???

I'm getting that a new seat would be better than getting the coustom covers, about the same cost. I was thinking they would be nice but I guess they don't hold up, is there something you could treat them with, I think they treat wet suits with something so uv rays don't destroy them?

Re: Wet okole covers???

The thing I don't like about those is the fact that you still get wet. The neoprene has a thin layer of fabric that the design is printed on. This fabric retains water and when you sit on it, no matter if you've wiped the seat off, you will get wet. What they don't tell you when you look at the product is, "We are referring to waterproofing the seat, not your pants". Which is the whole reason I would buy them. Give me some vinyl seats or covers anyday. A chammy kept in the console or glove box, a good wiping, and everything is dry.

I would never buy those covers b/c of the wear problems and wetness factor. Unless I lived in the desert where it never rained.

Re: Wet okole covers???

When you buy them, it tells on the package to spray them with the UV protection product sold by wet okole. If you use the UV spray regularly the colors dont fade and the neoprene won't decompose(just simple maintainance). As far as waterproofing, their advertising is deceiving, they say the covers are waterproof which is ture, the lining that is closest to the seat is waterproof but the outter neoprene will soak up water if not treated with a waterproofing spray. I've used these covers for years and I'm very happy with them, very comfortable, they stay cool in the hottest sun(which is everyday here), and they look great. The custom covers are only for seats from less common cars and trucks(same as standard but more $), mostlikely they have a standard cover for yours.
