Does my clutch not work because of a body lift?

I noticed I have a body lift..Im pretty sure it is one inch.Well the clutch linkage doesnt line up... I mean its like not fully meshed together.I was messing with it earlier and I can't get it to recoil and the clutch just stays depressed. This really sucks as I have to go to school tomorrow and really dont have a ride
What do I do to fix the linkage problem? Will it start making my clutch recoil and push the pedal out again?
Thanks
joey

Hey-If you have the MANUAL clutch linkage, which you probably do bieng '55- granted its a stock setup. The body lift takes out a certain amount of movement in the assembly, same as your wires, steering(!)column and power steering lines(?). You might just have to widen the hole in your body tub at the firewall, or weld in a small piece on the clutch rod, to lengthen. Goodluck.(OIIIIO)

yep.. you will have to lower it somehow.. not sure how much lift you have.. but you could look into drilling new holes lower down on the firewall.. i had to do this with mine.. since it had front tub damage there.. ugh.. what a pain...
